PG medical admission in Karnataka: MD and MS

An MD or MS seat needs a qualifying NEET-PG rank and a place in official counselling. MCC counsels the All India Quota and deemed universities; KEA counsels Karnataka's state quota seats in government and private colleges. Fees depend on the branch as much as the college: from ₹1,23,400 a year for a clinical branch in a government college to over ₹1 crore a year on a management seat in Radio-diagnosis.

Questions about PG admission

What are MD and MS fees in Karnataka's private medical colleges?

In KEA's 2025–26 list, a government quota PG seat in a private college costs about ₹7.8–8.1 lakh a year for clinical branches. Private quota runs from about ₹11 lakh to ₹70 lakh a year, and management quota from about ₹25 lakh to ₹1.6 crore a year, depending on the branch and the college.

Which PG branch costs the most?

Radio-diagnosis and Dermatology, with management fees up to ₹1.6 crore and ₹1.5 crore a year at the most expensive colleges. Paediatrics, General Medicine, Orthopaedics and OBG follow, at up to about ₹1.1–1.2 crore.

Is there a management quota for MD and MS?

Yes. Private colleges have management (Q) and NRI (N) PG seats, allotted by KEA on NEET-PG rank, like every other seat.

Should I register for KEA or MCC PG counselling?

Often both. MCC counsels the All India Quota seats in government colleges and deemed universities; KEA counsels Karnataka's state quota and private college seats. We plan the two together so a seat in one does not cost you a better seat in the other.

Are the fees for this year?

The figures on this page are from KEA's PG fee structure for 2025–26. KEA publishes a new list for each year's counselling, so we confirm the current fee for every college on your list in writing.
